About HomeBar
HomeBar is a native app for Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV that makes controlling your HomeKit home faster, calmer, and more transparent. It talks to your accessories directly through Apple's HomeKit framework — no cloud relay, no account, no data shipped off to a server.
What we believe
- Your home is yours. Device names, room layouts, sensor readings, automations — none of that belongs on someone else's server. HomeBar keeps your home data local and in your private iCloud container.
- Local-first is faster. Skipping the round trip to a cloud makes the app feel instant, even on a slow network.
- Honest telemetry, or none. If you opt in, we collect anonymous, aggregated snapshots that help us prioritize compatibility and features — nothing more. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what that looks like.
- Your API keys, your data. AI features use your own Anthropic key, stored in the system Keychain.
Who builds HomeBar
HomeBar is built by Andrew Gould, a longtime Apple-platform developer. Over the past decade-plus, Andrew co-created AirParrot, Reflector, and Ditto — screen-mirroring and wireless-display tools now used by millions of people and thousands of schools and businesses worldwide.
Across those products he's shipped native apps for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, Windows, and ChromeOS, and built the cross-platform streaming, device-discovery, and device-management stacks that power them. HomeBar is the same engineering discipline pointed at HomeKit: fast, native, privacy-respecting, and designed to feel like it belongs on every Apple device you own.
We don't sell your data. We don't transfer it. We never will — the business model is a simple subscription through Apple, and that's it.
